October’s Online Hallowe’en Artists Studio Trick or Treat show raised nearly $1,000 for Bat Conservation International (www.batcon.org), with almost 2,000 visitors going “door to door” to the 23 virtual studios and the Castle Hallowe’en Museum, among other stops available at www.halloweenstudiotour.com.
The virtual event was organized by Karen Waschinski, who said, “The artists offered incredible, many one of a kind, pieces all inspired by Hallowe’en mischief, colors and characters, like Pam Pontious’ ‘Pumpkin Spice’ and The Filigree’s ‘Devil.’ New this year, our silent auction had 12 p-lots and bidders walked away with some wonderfully thrilling deals! Our ‘Creaking Door Prize’ was won by Deborah Bernardoni in Colorado, who collected the letters to spell ‘White Nose Syndrome,’ the condition that’s devastating bat colonies in the eastern United States and Canada.
“Did you see something that you liked but forgot to get back to in time? Just like Hallowe’en candy, a number of artists still have items “left over”. Please visit the studio tour website to see a listing of artists with links to their websites, and don’t be afraid to knock!
“2012 will be our fourth year and I’m always looking for new artists! No matter what media you create in, if you make seasonal or Halloween-related pieces, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. And see you all in October 2012!”
